Skydiving - 220 kph Free Fall Skydive from 14 500 ft

Skydiving... man's revenge on gravity. Some say it's the ultimate rush and at 220 kph free fall it's hard to argue with that. Sven reassured me "I'b 4637 zumps zunder my belts" as he clipped our harnesses together. We taped our knees and ankles together for safety and instructed the tandem divers to wrap their legs around ours when they pull the cord. You don't want to knock them out. Well.. at least ot until after you have landed.

Leaving the wheelchairs far behind we approached 14500 ft. We shuffled over to the open door dropping my legs out of the plane. With one last big breath out we went. I felt my stomach knocking on my tonsils. During the 60 seconds of free fall the force of the wind in your face makes it hard to gasp another breath.

The noise of the wind rushing past is quite loud. It is so nice when the parachute opens, apart from the obvious reason, it's so quiet and peaceful drifting close enough by each other to wave. Then pulling down hard on one toggle we did a few spins to drop altitude when it was our turn to land.

We arranged for our carers to be waiting for us so as we came in to land they would catch our legs and run alongside to avoid them dragging along the hard ground. It wasn't until we landed that Sven decided to enlighten me with, "Zat's 4368 but you're da first quad I'b ever zumped wit..." I replied, "Well I'm glad you waited to tell me that mate !!".

It's freezing cold on the way down so rug up. There was some cloud around, I took a big lung full of one as we passed through it. We gathered around a camp fire afterwards, ears popping, while the second load of human missiles descended upon us from an even higher 16500 ft (an extra $40.00).Bill still alive-small

For the next week we sat staring out the window as it takes a while to actually come back to earth from this one. If you've ever thought about doing a skydive, go for it.
