mind control

Postby Cat » 17 Oct 2003

I dont know if this is true but it came out of a computer magazine

Scientists in Europe are developing a wheelchair that will be controlled by the mind. Researchers in Switzerland and Spain have joined forces to work on the system, which will use electrodes embedded in a skull cap worn by the user to send commands from the brain to a computer, which passes onto the chair wirelessly.
Early tests indicate that with just two days of training, it is easy to control the chair with your mind as it is to control with your hands.
Hopes for the chair are that it will give greater independence to the severly paralysed and disabled.

It's true:
-----------------
If you're an evil genius, a mind control device would be a nice item to have. However, a mind control wheelchair would be good if you're a quadriplegic evil genius. New Scientist says that researchers in Switzerland and Spain have made just such a made a robotic wheelchair that is steered by human thoughts. What's cool is this device doesn't require an icky brain tap, just a sensor cap you wear. The pilot puts on an electrode-lined skull cap and based on trained thought patterns can control the wheelchair left, right, or straight. It takes about two days to train the wheelchair based on thoughts. The wheelchair also has infrared proximity detectors to keep itself from running into walls. This wheelchair could be a Godsend for those who have little or no use of their muscles but still want to get around. Egads! my evil genius side is trying to imagine what else could be controlled with a mind control device.
